Taking The First Bite

How do you eat an elephant?
One bite at a time.

Not that I'd ever want to eat an elephant, mind you.  It's just a saying I use--a motivational saying.
                     About perseverance.
                                          About dedication.
                                                               About determination.
                                                                                   About eating Dumbo.
                                                                                                       Ick!

But that's what this is about.  Well, not the one about eating Dumbo, obviously.

It's about getting where I want in life and that which I encounter on the way.

My life hasn't always been easy.  It hasn't always been hard, either.
Everyone has struggles -- and it's not about comparing your struggles to mine.
Life is like a book, and every so often you have new chapters.  Some chapters are days, some weeks, some years.  Every day could be a new chapter.

I've always had goals.  I haven't met them all.
I don't believe in achieving a goal just because you set it.
It has to retain its meaning, its purpose, its big ears.
That's where I'm at now.  I'm setting goals -- knowing that those goals may change in the future. And that's okay.

It's more than just goals.  It's enjoying the process and admiring the flowers along the way.
It's realizing that the elephant in front of you isn't just to be eaten.  It's a fascinating creature with much to offer.  And if it happens to fly....well that's just an unexpected bonus.  And you better share the aerial photos.  I know I will.
